JUNO is a medical training manikin made by CAE healthcare. It allows medical personnel to maintain good level of performances and train interns and students. JUNO offers a broad variety of features covering most of every day skills you would expect in a hospital, such as intubation, pulse check, ECG monitoring, cardiac massage, urinary catheterization… ect

All of this driven by a tablet computer.

I have been involved in this project in a very transversal and narrow team which means as an industrial designer, involvement sprayed over all the manikin. I have been developing injection plastic parts, frame metal sheet parts, rotomolded bodies, cables rooting and management, flexible skin development, also doing R&D on various feature concepts (difficult airway, laryngospasme, pharyngeal swelling to name a few). Of course every of this working hand in hand with firmware, and electronic team. A very whole and broad experience!

JUNO est un mannequin d’entrainement médical développé par CAE Healthcare. Il permet au personnel hospitalier et étudiants en médecine de s’entraîner ou de maintenir un bon niveau de pratique. JUNO offre une large diversité de fonctions, majoritairement toutes les tâches de base sur un patient dans un hôpital, notamment l’intubation, la prise du pouls, mesure ECG, massage cardiac, catheterisation urinaire…etc Le tout piloté par une tablette.

Pour ce projet, j’ai été intégré dans une équipe transversale restreinte ce qui signifie en tant que designer industriel, une implication sur le mannequin complet. J’ai pu développer des pièces d’injection plastique, du châssis en tôle pliée, des corps rotomoulés, organiser la gestion et la distribution du câblage, développer une peau flexible, et aussi faire de la R&D sur des concepts de fonctionnalités comme rendre l’intubation difficile par exemple (laryngospasme pharyngeal swelling…). Evidemment le tout main dans la main avec les équipes électronique et logiciel. Une expérience complète!
